The new ultra-thin prototype watch at the moon phase at 12 o’clock is a tribute to the first perpetual calendar watch launched by Audemars Piguet in 1955.

The challenge when making the watch is to redesign the three-layer movement into one layer to make it thinner and lighter, and to reorganize and arrange the functions to make it more ergonomic and improve efficiency and ruggedness. This patented system is equipped with a record-breaking automatic perpetual calendar movement of 2.89 mm. The redesigned case is only 6.30 mm thick (about 2 mm thinner than the Royal Oak Ultrathin Jumbo model), so the Royal Oak RD # 2 is currently the thinnest self-winding perpetual calendar watch on the market.
The model uses a 950 platinum case and bracelet with a large checkered blue dial decorated with Grande Tapisserie.
The 5133 caliber has the same 19,800 vph frequency as the 5134 caliber, with a power reserve of 40 hours.
The case thickness is only 6.30 mm, making Royal Oak RD # 2 the thinnest self-winding perpetual calendar watch on the market.
